Activities
We believe learning works best side by side, not from the front of a room. Most of what happens at Solidara is people learning from each other: sharing what they know, trying things out together, figuring it out as they go. Where it genuinely helps, an experienced trainer or facilitator joins in, not to run the session, but to support it.
Here's how we currently put that into practice, and one direction we're actively building toward.
Learning mobilities
Learning doesn't retire. We co-create exchanges and international learning journeys that bring people together across cultures and borders, no matter what stage of life they're in. Built on non-formal education, these journeys turn everyday moments (a shared meal, a missed train, a language worked through together) into real learning.
Intergenerational learning & dialogue
We create spaces where people of different ages meet, share real experience, and learn from each other. Lived experience and new perspective count equally here. This is where "a human being, not a label" stops being a line on the About page and becomes practice: nobody in the room is only "young" or only "adult."
Digital skills & digital confidence
We help people build the skills and steadiness to learn, create, and take part in today's world online, not just use the tools, but navigate them with some confidence. In practice: digital storytelling, safe participation online, and support for people who feel like the digital world is moving faster than they are.
Capacity building for trainers & facilitators
We support the people who support others: youth workers, adult educators, trainers, volunteers, community leaders, through peer learning, training activities, and international cooperation. Because non-formal education only works if the people running it are learning too.
Green transition & sustainable living
Care for the environment isn't new here, it already shows up quietly inside our other activities: how we run an exchange, how we plan an event, small sustainable habits built into non-formal learning wherever they fit naturally. What's changing now is that we're shaping this into a field of its own: dedicated activities where environmental awareness and sustainable-living skills are the point, not a side effect.
Active citizenship & rights awareness
Being part of a community isn't only about showing up, it's about having a say. We create space for people to understand their rights, question what feels unfair, and take part in decisions that shape their neighbourhood, their organisation, or their country, through local participation projects, rights-awareness sessions, and honest conversations about equality, inclusion, and what democracy looks like in practice, not just on paper.
