Solidarity Lines: Local Roots, European Routes

Solidara's first project as lead applicant: two 10-day train journeys for young people from Workum with fewer opportunities, travelling together through Amsterdam, Bruges, Lille and Brussels. Along the way, participants explore what makes people feel included or excluded in a city, and build confidence, independence and a sense of European belonging through daily reflection and group support.

Key activities

  • Outreach, preparation and selection of participants (Workum area)
  • Solidarity Lines I: 10-day train mobility, December 2026
  • Solidarity Lines II: 10-day train mobility, April 2027
  • Daily reflection circles and DiscoverEU Companion journalling throughout each trip
  • Local follow-up and sharing of experiences in Workum after each mobility

Who it's for

Young people aged 18–21 from Workum and the surrounding region facing economic, geographical or social barriers to travel: 5 participants with fewer opportunities plus 2 accompanying persons per mobility (10 participants and 4 accompanying persons in total across both trips).
